Here's my shot at the strategy guide for Crafting & Blueprints.
So, lets get started!
In Dawn of Darkness, your gear alongside gems and enhancements will play a big part in helping you down those pesky elites (as well as helping you look pretty sharp!)
In this guide I will show you where you can obtain the materials and blueprints that you will need to upgrade your gear and what to do with them once you have them.
- Blueprints/Blueprint Scraps and where to get them.
- Materials for crafting and where to get them.
- What do I do with my materials?
- How do I craft?
- List of blueprints and drop locations
BLUEPRINTS/BLUEPRINT SCRAPS AND WHERE TO GET THEM
Now, for ANY crafting in DoD this is the first thing you'll need.
The blueprints are the most important part! (you wouldn't put a new cabinet together without the instructions now... would you?)
So, what you're looking for are these:
WHERE CAN I GET THOSE?
Most blueprints will drop from elite bosses in the world once you have defeated them.
You can mouse over an instance on the map to see which blueprints will be dropped by which boss.
Tidal blueprints come completed, whereas Sandy blueprints must be collected in pieces, totaling 5 for a completed blueprint.
There are 3 kinds of blueprint that can't be collected by killing elites.
These are Amulet, Rune and Charm.
You must buy these blueprints from the NPC Emma in exchange for cards.
(The cards won from daily quests, cargo runs etc.)
Emma can be found in every location - she will generally sell blueprints appropriate to the level area that she is in.
There is an Emma at the Eternal Tree who will sell blueprints for silver instead of cards.
HOW DO I USE MY BLUEPRINT?
Now that you have your blueprint, you are ready to begin collecting the materials or 'mats' that are needed to craft your upgraded item.
Each blueprint type tends to require different materials, though you will find that some blueprints share the same ones.
Think of the material list as a shopping list... one that you have to go around killing things for!
To view the materials you will need, you can simply mouse over the blueprint in the shop or in your bag to view them.
Or, you can do the following:
- Head to your heroes window (Press C)
- Find the hero with the item equipped that you want to upgrade.
- Click the RED ARROW shown on the item you want to upgrade and have the blueprint for.
You can now see the list of materials needed, AND here is a good trick.
You can click on the materials in the window displayed and the map will pop up displaying which dungeon you should run to get the materials from.
No doubt on your adventures you'll have come across enemies who drop items when you beat them.
99% of the time these materials you will want to save for later, because they are used in crafting.
You will need to gather a set amount of materials before you can complete your crafting and upgrade your item.
The amount will be shown when you mouse over the blueprint itself, or when you open the crafting window from your hero menu.
These can range anywhere between 24 - 42 and 5 - 15 for the harder to obtain items and increase by quality of the equipment you are crafting.
I'VE COLLECTED EVERYTHING, WHAT DO I DO NOW?
Once you have your blueprint and all the materials listed you can complete the crafting process.
When you have the correct amount of materials collected - the number on the crafting screen for that item will turn from white to green.
The craft button should now be lit up red and ready to go!
- Click the Heroes button or press C on your keyboard.
- Click the RED ARROW to get to the crafting screen once more.
- Click CRAFT
CONGRATS! Your item has been crafted!
I hope you have enjoyed my guide and hope that it helps.
Below I have listed a few useful/fun bits for anyone that might be interested.
